Also we have published our very own blog-like retrospective called Donnachie, Simionato & Son. It is a survey of our activity (photographic, visual, video, internet and book publishing) from the last 8 years or so. It has all the features of most blogs, but reads like a magazine.

Compendium #6 is currently under production, along with the related site-specific editions.

Jeremy Leslie presented a kind of abecedaria of magazines at the 8 Festival for Fashion and Photography He has kindly uploaded his slides for all to see and so we include it below or read his excellent magazine-centric blog. Copies of This is a magazine Compendia were available along with many great titles. Many thanks to Jeremy, and Mike Koedinger and the Colophon crew.

Which reminds me that the compendium was also included in another small but rather good exhibition of magazine/objects in Milan Italy put together by the irrepressible Andrew Losowsky on the occasion of SignJam 08 (where I had an enjoyable sunday afternoon workshopping with a great group of people)

is a new(ish) magazine out of Paris, France by Bori & Simon, which featured This is a magazine in its very first dreamy issue...

This art-directing-duo have also agreed to spread some of our "removed" Jonker's mini-comics at their stand at the next Salon Light (at the cneai on the 3-4 November) alongside their very own Neverending and other publications.

While everyone is sitting around crying about how all our favourite magazines are just turning into dull containers for ads, these guys (and their friends) are pumping out shiny gold.

Organized by the entrepid makers of the foldout-magazine Acido Surtido, this show collects work dealing with concepts of recycling in art by Sergio Avello, Leonor Silvestri, Estudio García Balza, Meritxell Soler González, Julián Vázquez, Andy Simionato & Karen Ann Donnachie (This is a magazine), Diego López, Alejandro Sarmiento, Asistencia Creativa, Alejandro Magallanes y Dr. Alderete, Pattern, Sebastián Arpesella, Slavimir Stojanovic, Nasa / Hernán Mariano Lombardo, Punga visual consorcio, Nora Lezano, RDYA / Ezequiel de San Pablo, Rubén Fontana y Zalma Jalluf, Soledad Stagnaro, Martín Churba / Tramando, Lucas y Mauro López, Luis Gruss. On show at the CCEC (Centro Cultural España Córdoba) in Córdoba, Argentina until the 26th october.

The image above shows the This is a magazine room, which consisted of filling the floor with all the "left-overs" from our series of books. As well as some pink balloons with the words Everything will be OK printed on them. Ceating a feeling similar to entering a room after a party or other happy event, with some videos on a monitor playing soundlessly.

Above is a previously unpublished image of our latest compendium without it's dustjacket, this hardcover is a compilation of video-stills from the Jonker's video (Issue 19). The Jonkers also made a mini-comic which was published and "removed" from the book to be distributed in other secret locations.

One such location was Dustin Hostetler's rather brill monochrome-multifun Faesthetic magazine #6, below an image of the Faesthetic's Friends with you cover:

The quirky poster-magazine Acido Surtido from Argentina has a new edition out called Extra which includes a copy of the "removed" Jonker's chapter from the latest This is a Magazine Compendium #5. For those unawares; a tiny b/w comic book "drooled" by the cult-like The Jonkers was produced for the 5th Compendium of This is a Magazine then "removed" and distributed in random locations around the world wide world. You will need to hunt down one of these mini-chapters in order to "complete" the Who I think I am compendium of This is (not) a Magazine. More locations to find this lost chapter and general blabla about this new compendium can be read on the dedicated interwebsite www.whoithinkiam.com

More about Acido Surtido:
Under the concept ‘Extra’, Acido Surtido magazine has published their 15th issue. Collaborators include Ezequiel de San Pablo, Andy Cherniavsky, Marcia Schvartz, Luis Gruss and Patricio Oliver amongst others. Extra-Terrestre poster designed by Acido Surtido team, a tribute to David Bowie’s 70 period. Edition includes “The worst Comic in the World” by The Jonkers, a lost chapter from This is a Magazine.

Acido Surtido is printed on a 65 cm x 95 cm sheet of paper, created by different collaborators around the same topic which is a conceptual frame to trigger ideas. Both the topic/concept and the participants are unique for each issue and define its personality. Everybody who would like to take part in the challenge must show create within a 16 cm x 23,5 cm space, freely using graphic and textual resources, their particular approach to the topic.

From the 19th to the 29th April 2007 Xing presents in Bologna and Modena the 7th edition of the Festival Internazionale sullo Spettacolo Contemporaneo, entitled Today is ok.

F.I.S.Co.showcases the most representative examples of the convergence taking place across the contemporary arts (dance, theatre, performance, visual and plastic arts) and gives pride of place to the peak of advanced international research.
F.I.S.CO. has a different title for every edition, in order to underline its constant search for innovation on the international art scene.

The program of the 2007 edition (performances, installations, special events) revolves around three diverse environments: a modern urban-metropolitan space, a classical italian theater, and a subterranean location in the heart of the historical city.
